The sequence
Step 1
Start with Google AI Essentials. Learn the vocabulary and how prompting really works before anything else. Finish it — don't collect half-done courses.
Finishing one short course first builds the momentum that carries you through the longer ones.
Step 2
Add IBM SkillsBuild AI Fundamentals and one or two DeepLearning.AI short courses. Use the tools on real tasks from your actual job or job search.
Applying AI to your own work is what turns a certificate into a story you can tell in an interview.
Step 3
Choose one lane and go deep: AI + data analytics, AI + cybersecurity, AI + marketing/content, or AI + operations. Then take Azure AI-900 or an NVIDIA DLI course in that direction.
Generalists get filtered out. A specialty makes your resume answer a specific job posting.
Step 4
Build two or three small things — an automated workflow, an AI-assisted report, a custom assistant — and write up what it saved in time or money. Certificates open the door; proof gets the offer.
